Let's talk Lipstick...

I have, since I started makeup always considered myself a lip gloss girl and left it at that. Only because every time I used lipstick I ended up with dry, tight lips and it just turned me off to it completely. I've been reading lots of blogs lately and all the talk about lipsticks makes me really want to buy some but I always go back to my thoughts of the bad and how I'll just end up going right back to my lip gloss. So any of you ladies care to persuade me?? I'm mostly wanting to know about different formulas and I'm also open to different brands as well any other thoughts you may have.
