Givenchy Maharani Spring 2009 Collection

This collection gives me pause. It's one of the most gorgeous compilations of makeup I've ever seen. It's inspired by the sensual and refined beauty of Indian women and offers touches of bright, joyful oranges and pinks that are evocative of the culture's ornate clothing and makeup. The best part? All of the packaging is be-bindi'd!

Givenchy provided a small group of beauty bloggers the opportunity to talk with fantastical Givenchy artistic director Nicolas Degennes over breakfast a couple weeks ago. P.S. You may know Nicolas as THE dude behind Phenomen'Eyes.

My faves from the collection:

Sari Glow Iridescent Blush in 43 Maharani Pink ($42) Nicolas mentioned using this on shoulders for a gorge glow and I've been sold ever since.

Precious Sari Glittering Glow Eyeshadow ($22) This one is actually more of a highlighter, although you can certainly use it as a shadow as well. Nicolas suggested using it in a stripe down your nose to slim it. Done!

Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick in Maharani Henna ($27) This formula lasts forever and a day. I lurve the orange red hue this lipcolor yields.

Pink Irreverence: Lancôme's Spring 2009 Color Collection by Aaron De Mey

Audacious and emotional, free spirited and pioneering, radioactively gorgeous and sexy, Pink Irreverence, the latest color collection from Aaron De Mey, Lancôme’s new artistic director for makeup, takes inspiration from irreverent French heroines Madame Bovary, Sylvie Fleurie, Marie Curie and Brigitte Bardot. Color Fever Gloss in Piha Black

Barbie Loves Stila Beauty Cans: Uber Limited Edition

There is SO MUCH beauty news today dolls, that I'm actually getting nerve about having a chance to cover it all. Between the Golden Globes, the new NARS collection, and now the Barbie Loves Stila collection... I'm experiencing sensory overload. I love me some Stila and I love me some Barbie (though I have little to no tolerance for Barbie hand), so you and I KNOW I'll be rocking some of this come spring.



The collection includes the Malibu Barbie can, the Ponytail Barbie can, the Foxy Girl Barbie can, and the Barbie Talking Palette.











The Barbie Loves Stila beauty cans are pre-launching on Sephora.com on Wednesday, January 14 and they will sell out quickly, no doubt. Each beauty can is numbered and the brand will not be producing more than 10,000 of any one can.

Essie Spring 2009 Collection

Just like in the '90s Era of the Vamp, I was totes enamored with dark vixen-esque nails and then all at once OVER it. And that's how I'm feeling right now. Something about last spring's dark nail trend just pushed me over the edge. I just can't cosign a dark nail in the spring. It seems wrong. That's why I was delighted to hear that Essie is busting out some beautiful brights for spring 2009!

The Essie Spring 2009 collection compliments the season’s dreaminess with a mixed palette of soft red, beige and blue, pinky coral, fuchsia and petal rose – each named to inspire the newness and hopefulness of Spring. P.S. That soft red? Seems to be a synonym for spring red, about which I learned from Gucci Westman at Fashion Week in September and haven't stopped thinking about one DAY since. I received the collection last night circa 10pm after drinks with my former college roommate Julia and don't you think for second I didn't paint that shiz (One of a Kind, see below) on my nails the SECOND I walked in the door. I love it.
